Since 31 March 2008, the ISA has been providing advice on barring decisions for List 99, the Protection of Children Act (PoCA) list and the Protection of Vulnerable Adults (PoVA) list to the Secretaries of State for Children Schools and Families (DCSF) and Health (DH).
From October 12th 2009, a new duty to share information has been introduced under the Vetting and Barring Scheme. From that date employers, social services and professional regulators will have to notify the ISA of relevant information so that individuals who pose a threat to vulnerable groups can be identifi ed and barred from working with these groups.
SPIC will advise members on all aspects of safeguarding and may have the ISA Adult First checks alongside the enhanced CRB
checks.

If you are reviewing your Whistleblowing Policy you may wish to access the following information
Reporting Adult Protection in Shropshire (Adult Protection Referral)
In Shropshire it has now been agreed to have one number to report 'concerns for a child or vulnerable adult'. The contact details for Telford & Wrekin have not changed.
The new number when making an Adult Protection Referral from 3rd November 2011 is 0345 6789021. You will be asked to provide information to enable pages one and two of the Referral Form (APF1) to be completed. The referral will then be allocated to the correct social care team.
The number previously given out (0345 6789005) on the Shropshire Council leaflets is the general enquiry line. If you phone that number stating that you need to make an adult protection referral your call should be transferred to the new number without having to go through the welcome messages again.
